East Reno Area Community InformationEast of Reno are several small towns, the major of which are Fernley and Fallon.
Fernley is a high desert community and lies 30 miles east of the Reno-Sparks area. Ranch properties as well as economical housing are the mainstay of this area, so if you want great priced communities, or just the country feel, Fernley is your town. Fernley has also been a magnet for major US corporations for development, logistics, and manufacturing. Many companies have major presences here, like Amazon.com, Agru America, Inc., Trex Inc., MSC Industrial Direct, Allied Signal, UPS Worldwide Logistics, Inc., Honeywell, Johns Manville, Sherwin Williams Company, RMAX, and Feldmeir Corporation.
As of July 1st, 2014, Tesla has started breaking ground here for the largest battery manufacturing plant in the world. While negotiations are underway to secure the site as Tesla’s main facility, the groundbreaking commitment shows the faith that a company like Tesla has in Northern Nevada.
Fallon, located 60 miles east of Reno, is also a desert living community, with ranches and subdivision neighborhoods making up most of this area. Fallon is also home to a United States Naval Air Station, and is the Navy’s premier air-to-air and air-to-ground training facility. It is located southeast of Fallon in western Nevada in the United States. Since 1996, it has been home to the Naval Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN), and is also home to the Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center (NSAWC), the Carrier Airborne Early Warning Weapons School (TOPDOME) and the Navy Rotary Wing Weapons School. Navy SEAL Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) training also takes place here. Who says ranchers, retirees, and fighter pilots don’t mix!
