Carson Valley Information
The Carson Valley is the home of Carson City, Nevada’s capital city, and also incorporates the towns of Minden, Gardnerville, Genoa and Dayton. Carson City is located thirty miles south of Reno, but the city limits extend all the way to the California border at Lake Tahoe. This is an area that offers various climate zones of housing, whether high desert, living on the Carson River, or the mountains surrounding beautiful Lake Tahoe.
Minden and Gardnerville are located in a pastoral setting in the Carson Valley. These towns are nestled at the base of mountains surrounding Lake Tahoe and have a wonderful small town feeling. The Carson River meanders through the valley, with golfing and soaring two of the top outdoor recreational attractions of the area. The south shore of Lake Tahoe is just 20 minutes driving up the Kingsbury Grade.
One of Carson Valleys’ hidden gems is the town of Genoa. This quaint little town is a tourist must but repeatedly visited by locals. It is the oldest settled town in Nevada.
Twelve miles outside of Carson City is the town of Dayton. This small historic community offer rural living while still minutes from Carson City, Virginia City and Reno.
